Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) Broadband is the most common type of broadband used today in the UK and around the world. It allows a business or consumer to have a permanent high speed 24x7x365 Internet connection.
School Broadband offers a number of packages which range from business with a few users to businesses with 40 to 50 users.
School Broadband ADSL Broadband is currently available with up to 8Meg a second download and 832kbit (0.832Meg) upload speed. These are the speeds you can receive and send information over your Internet connection.
Our standard business broadband comes with a 20:1 or 50:1 contention ratio. A contention ratio means that your bandwidth is effectively shared between that amount of users. e.g if you had a 2Meg 20:1 connection, that 2Meg would be shared between 20 different businesses at the BT telephone exchange. In practise it's not often that this ever happens but can do occasionally. If you need your bandwidth all the time please look at our dedicated 1:1 broadband offerings here.
As School Broadband are a business to business company only we don't have home users running file sharing programs and doing constant heavy downloads which can effect network performance on other providers' networks meaning slower speeds for you. Our network is run to ensure a high quality of service backed up by experienced engineers who won't have you waiting in a queue for 15 minutes before being able to speak to them.
As standard BT offer a 40 hour fix for ADSL broadband connections with no confirmed response times to any problem you may have. However an enhanced care product may be purchased as an additional extra which gives you peace of mind that BT will response to a strict service level agreement of a 3 hour response time and a 20 hour fix including 24x7x365 on site engineer visit to your premises.
